Yeah, there was an hour-long TV doco on him. Quite a character..

The only one on the list who's famous for his brain is Ernest
Rutherford, so I'm guessing very few Kiwis will have heard of him.
Interesting also that his knighthood isn't recognised, or his peerage,
whereas Edmund Hillary (famous for climbing up a mountain while
assisted) is SIR. :)

Most notable absentees are of course Piggy Muldoon, who presided over
'em for a decade while the rest of the world laughed, and Terry Clark
(alias Sinclair) who they'd probably like to pass off as Australian.

You might also note that Burt Munro isn't on the list either.

Yeah, I find it somewhat amusing that a bloke gets a knighthood for walking
up the side of a hill and becomes world famous for it, yet the "guide" who
was with him, a Sherpa named Tenzing Norgay, hardly rates a mention in
history.

To be fair to Hillary though, he and Norgay were great friends and it was
through no fault of Hillary's that he received most of the credit for
climbing Everest. Hillary also did a great deal in helping the people of
Nepal, building hospitals and schools.

Yeah, an interesting omission I thought.

There a lot not on the "list" and many you would not know of but looking
at the real makers of things look as an example for the Robinson's and a
lot of seemingly Eu names working on the bomb circa 1941/5 all from
Unzud , even a couple of Au's there
