From: hippo on 12 Apr 2010 09:34 Everyone insured with AAMI who has remained claim free for a number of years can now accrue rewards in addition to preserved-for-life NCB, including lower excess, rental car free of charge, etc. So hang on.... what benefit do I actually get if I continue to be claim free? Erm... none that I can see! BTW, has anyone else noticed that the goose in the AAMI TV ad who's whinging about being claim free and not getting any recognition for it is parked on the wrong side of the street? -- Posted at www.usenet.com.au

Erm... none > that I can see! I gave AAMI the bum's rush on my car insurance last year. I've been insured with them for about 20 years - claim free for about the last 15 (and that claim the other driver was at fault), and I figured that what I was getting charged was starting to get ridiculous. Rang around and RACQ were prepared to cover me with pay-by-the-month premiums for 30% less than AAMI's annual fee, and with a lower NCB and higher agreed value. Gave AAMI the option to match, and they came back about 10% less than their previous price, so RACQ got the business. I still have my 50cc scooter insured with AAMI. When I did the ring around, a lot of insurers either wouldn't touch it, or wouldn't touch me (because I don't have a motorbike licence, only car licence - which is legal in QLD for a scooter), and the others that would insure me/it were at least double AAMI's price. One quote I got (can't remember the company now) was actually more than the new purchase price of the scoot!!! > > BTW, has anyone else noticed that the goose in the AAMI TV ad who's > whinging about being claim free and not getting any recognition for it is > parked on the wrong side of the street? > -- What is the difference between a duck?

What are the "rewards"??? Don't all insurance companies offer a no claim discount? Wasn't AAMI in fact the first to offer a "lifetime" rating 1, thus mostly negating the "no claim" part of the discount for many? They should have a *continual* increase in no claim discount IMO, until an at fault claim is made. However no one does that AFAIK. The AAMI ad seems totally pointless IMO. MrT.
