March 27, 2010 05:19 AM EDT

In Kentucky yesterday, a truck crossed over a Kentucky interstate median
and slammed head on with a church van carrying a Mennonite family that was
on its way to a wedding. 11 people were killed.

Charles Swiney, a police state trooper said that two children had survived
the crash.

A pastor that was in the van said that they were Mennonites and on their
way to a wedding in Iowa. The truck driver who was from Alabama was also
killed in the wreck.

According to officials, the tractor trailer crossed over the median and
struck the van head on around 5:30 a.m. in Munfordville, about 75 miles
from Louisville.

He was prolly drunk or playing on a cell or fell asleep. Truckers don't
care cause they figure in a crash, they'll be ok. Didn't work that way this
time.

Way to stop this is to have much much stiffer penalties for tractor-
trailer drivers since they are driving a much more dangerous vehicle.
For example, DWI for a trucker should be permanent loss of drivers
license. Not just his trucker license, i mean never again allowed to
drive any motor vehicle on public roads. Same with doing 15+ over the
speed limit.

If he'd hit a pickup truck full of Mexican immigrants
you'd be hailing him as a hero, right?
