I was hearing in the news today how worried the British government is
about BP losing ground and the investors not getting their returns...
That would be the End of the World as we know it, right?

What's next, America taking over?

No. But since the UK monarchy owns a huge stake in BP, will the UK
start a war with us? Will the British Virgin Islands attack us?

You never know if they are in bad mood. Remember the Falklands.

Luckily a good chunk of the investors are Americans.

I didn't know Toyota was that insignificant.

Big Oil are the dinosaurs of the modern world denying evolution...

Among the world's fifteen largest corporations listed in the 2002
"Fortune Global 500," five were oil companies. After US-based Exxon
came the UK giants Shell and British Petroleum (BP), the mammoth
French firm Total, and the huge US-based Chevron. Compared to the
large automakers, with their anemic profits, the oil companies stand
out among the world's biggest corporations for their high
profitability. In 2001 (and again in 2003), Exxon earned the world's
highest profits. In 2003, its earnings reached a record $22 billion,
more than General Motors, Ford, DaimlerChrysler and Toyota taken
together.

Well they must be doing something good. For a little over $300 you can buy one mesely share of the company.
I'm not sure how many US based companies have share prices that high. It ain't many, if any.
