What's so hard about overtaking a truck in a downpour anyway? It's not
like you have to deviate from your line or , well, change anything at
all really. OK, you can't see well for a couple of seconds but so
what. Anyone with any sense will have made sure the road ahead is
clear before doing it anyway..

Nothing. I'm pretty sure the Xantia has variable intermittent wipe -
it has a slidy thing on the stalk anyway. I've never used it yet.
Wipers on. Wipers off. That's all I need..

I'd put an autobox way ahead of auto-wipers. They suit some cars, not
others. I nearly bought an XJ6 s3 a few years ago - the fact it was a
manual 'box put me off it. I've owned three autos, and also had the
manual 'box equivalents of two of them. Both suited the autobox, although
I think I'd have much preferred the third with a manual (Alfa 75)

No, it isn't.

I'd rather it sped up BEFORE the water hit the 'screen, so vision was
impeded for as little time as possible.

Same as the XM's, then. I used it all the time.
