I will NEVER use a $ynthetic oil. I don't have any problems getting 300K
out of an engine with plain ol' 30w oil from walmart. You just have to
change it at the proper interval.

Wow, this news story is about ten years old! Ask any mechanic about 3000
mile oil changes. They know that they are totally unnecessary. 5000 is
more than enough to provide all the "cheap insurance" that anyone would
ever need.

Even the waste of money $ynthetics get dirty in 3000 miles. It's never been
an issue of the oil being worn out, it's DIRT and DIRT is what kills moving
parts. Do as you please, it's your junker.
