If you drop something on it, the oil just leaks around it.

If it fails, I understand "that's it", the well will leak the entire
contents of that reserve out into the gulf, estimated around 2.5
billion barrels. Is that what you heard?

If that's 2.5 billion, and it's leaking 100,000 per day, then that's
what? 25,000 days? 68 years?

Looks like there'd be enough time to drill about 100 - 1000 wells into
that particular reserve and suck it dry.
