You're talking apples to oranges. I'm talking about taking the
opertunity to put a version of what they were using until the robot
bumped it where they could actually close all the vents. All the vents
could not be closed because the small take up pipe would create too much
pressure if they are closed.

Government played a huge role. Government looks the other way for the
connected. The regulatory systems are there to give insiders advantages
not for the environment or to keep people safe. That's why the low low
damages cap was put in too. The mainstream media, the pro-state media,
is going to say that government just needs more power and money. So few
people question government failure and growth through failure that
alternatives are not even tried.

The feds over rule them on just about everything it appears so when it
asplodes it is not surprising they complain.

don't forget that the Feds blocked LA and FL from taking their own actions
to prevent oil from fouling their shores. Or that Comrade Obama REFUSED
assistance from Norway and Netherlands. Comrade was busy playing golf.

Dropping something big and heavy on it is probably the ONLY way, short
of nuclear weapons, that they'll ever "cap" it. The well is
compromised probably 1000 feet below the surface of the sea floor, if
you look at this:

http://www.theoildrum.com/node/6593/648967

So, they have a few shots left - drill a well and intercept THIS well
far below the surface, fill it with "drilling mud" and choke it off
that way. No, its not a scheme to intercept the oil reservoir and
relieve the pressure on it like the newsguys have been saying. And,
this scheme of intercepting the well far below the surface is not a
slam-dunk; if unsuccessful, the entire contents of that 3.5 billion
barrel reserve will likely leak out into the gulf over a period of
decades.

Drop something on it like I said, or nuke it, like the Russians have
said. Not too many options left...

I think dropping something heavy on it would only cause the oil to come
out somewhere else.

I think you may be right. Dunno. An aircraft carrier is pretty big,
tho, so compressing the sea floor with that sort of weight for a good
distance from the hole might do the trick. Would like to suggest it
to the people that know the geology of that area, and see what they
think.

I do favor the nuclear explosion, tho, if they can make that work.
Starting the hole at that depth, and contending with those pressures,
you'd have to have a pressure-resisant vessel for the nuke itself,
and i don't know if they could seal up the hole behind the weapon like
they show above using concrete, or anything else. If they could, I
think it would be the best shot at stopping the thing.
