Obama, Salazar, Chu, and Gates green-lighted the risky Macondo drilling operation from the outset, according to WMR's government sources. WMR learned that BP was able to have several safety checks waved because of the high-level interest by the White House and Pentagon in tapping the Gulf of Mexico bonanza find in order to plan a military attack on Iran without having to be concerned about an oil and natural gas shortage from the Persian Gulf after an outbreak of hostilities with Iran."

They should drop something really heavy on that well. Heavy and large. I'm thinking something like one of our floating museum battleships or aircraft carriers.

Wacko idea like this is why I am glad the government is letting BP handle the well containment plans. Ed

Which can't even seem to do sensible things... like the cap is too small but then they accidently bump with the robot so it has to be removed but they are going to put the same too small cap back on instead of putting a larger one on now that there is a perfect chance to do so. Then again, BP probably doesn't have a larger cap in stock...

Then again, > BP probably doesn't have a larger cap in stock... If you review the history of this mess, they actually had a very large box (aka a large cap) that covered the well and surrounding area. It didn't work becasue ice of a sort formed inside the box and blocked the pipe to the surface. The small cap works becasue they pump warmer water down to the cap to prevent the formation of the ice (actually some sort of hydride formed by the methane at high pressure). The guys working on this are not idiots despite what the government and the press suggest. I am amazed how little attenion has been paid the governments role in this disaster. People make fun of the BP disaster plan, yet it was supposedly reviewed and approved by the government. The governemet was supposed to perform routine inspections to insure BP (actually the drilling contractor) were properly maintaing the equipment and following regulations - clearly they blew this off. And I think the govenors of Louisanna, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida are huge hypocrites since all these state garner significant revenue from the oil and gas industry. Ed
