They are required to use the horn at every crossing (in WA anyway)
even if the crossing has lights, bells and boom gates. People still
get run over.

In Victoria, train drivers are required to sound their horn at every road
and pedestrian crossing, this includes crossings where ther train line is
between paddocks.
Behind me in my little village, there are seven crossings within hearing
range, luckily there are very few trains which use the line every day, and I
can guess the time of day by the train.

Therein lies the problem. To be knocked off a bike 6 times in 20 years tells
me you are careless or you are a cat. Whilst a car driver should watch out
for motorcyclists, the motorcyclyst MUST always assume any car on the road
is out to get them and be "super aware" of that.
I have been riding for close on 40 years (dirt bikes to 600cc and roadbikes
to 1100cc) and the only spills I have had on the roads was from tyre
punctures. Sure, I've had close calls with cars, but I have always been
"super aware" of car/truck drivers.

Yep, and how about passing over double lines too? See that every day.

That's probably why you are still here, but there are plenty who dice with
death.
