Electronics companies employ reliability engineers to ensure this does not happen. The USAF (who run the GPS system) employ probably a few thousand people to maintain the system and keep it working. I've *never* seen it happen in more than ten years of using a GPS or Satnav. If one is walking with one the only normal proviso is that you carry a spare set of batteries. Indeed the entire sport of geocaching would not exist without GPS or satnavs. -- I'm not apathetic... I just don't give a sh** anymore ?John Wright

These can be viewed in advance of a difficult journey. Memorise or print out as required. Looking at a 4" screen while driving can't be any good. In fact it should be outlawed, just like mobile phones. |
