Thy are, but most of us are now a bit bigger and wider than we were then,
with less forgiving spines, hips and necks. I'll probably stick with
things like the 206 GTi (or a really silly Clio) for the next few years
and then build the Morry Minor I always wanted. It *won't* be all original
collectable if it ever happens (unless I can bring out an excellent
condition late production Traveller, which I *would* keep mostly original)
but it will be a reasonably quick, economical and comfortable workhorse
with a lot of character (in a good way - not a Lucas &/or later era BMC/BL
way).

Proper suspension, brakes & steering first up, full Datto running gear
with a 5 or 6 spd manual, 15 or 16" wheels, a/c, probably Saab or Renault
front seats (if possible to fit 'em in), a nice exhaust note and a
reasonable sound system.

FYI, the bloke next door got the XP to the stage of 302, gearbox and
driveline running and pretty well sorted over the last couple of months.
The full exhaust finally went on lst week and it sounds magic - perfect
tone and IMO just enough of it.

I *think* he ended up fititng another XP steering box after killing the
original on and some dramas with an alternative replacement. Your info was
appreciated. Thanks. Whatever, the wheels do turn corners and the brakes
stop it going through the back of the garage, so it's all gong well so far.

BTW, did you ever have any dealings with worked Isuzu Bellet GTs? Serious
fun!

Nice.

That'd be a nice drive.

There's a few old Morry Minors getting around that have been cut down into
tray back utes with Datto running gear and they look great. Of course,
that'd be the only way you'd *want* one, as with the standard mechanicals
they were as slow as a wet week.

Cool.

As long as it all works *and* he drives it with the limitations of the
original hardware in mind it'll be fine.

Not worked, but I used to have a neighbour who had one years ago and he
loved it. I never drove the thing but I raced him around the Richmond & Kew
Boulevards in a pretty hot Mini I had at the time and it was a lot of fun.
It certainly seemed to go pretty well, and sounded quite schmick at full
noise.

So what you're saying is that they're very different cars designed for
different purposes. Does that mean you were wrong when you said this?

"No Nod....As I've always stated the AWD Verada supercharged allows a
very good chassis to reach its potential ...which happens to be a lot
higher than many others and as good as a WRX. "

You claimed the WRX was no "world beater". I just showed you that you
were incorrect. It has won international competition on enough
occasions to be a world champion. Which makes it a world beater, for
those championships. (Hint: Do you know what the "W" stands for in
WRC?)
Bringing old Lancia victories that span back to the 70's is totally
irrelevant. We were comaring a Verada to a WRX.

Steve

No actually it means that the supercharger has allowed a very good
chassis to reach its potential...which happens to be a lot higher than
many and as good as a WRX.

At no time did I mention rallying nor racing the Verada so lap times
are not relevant.

OzOne of the three twins

I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace.
