Focus 1.8 Zetec revving/idling problem
Hi, I recently bought a 1999 Focus 1.8 Zetec. It has a problem that at first I took to be the Idle Speed Control Valve, but now I'm not sure at all. When you take your foot off the accelerator at speed, the engine takes a long time to lose revs, so there is no immediate engine braking, and also each gear ... 26 Sep 2009 05:57
Demoving dirty engine oil from clothes
A lost cause or worth a shot? I went a bit mad last weekend and changed the oil in my lawnmower. Unfortunately, I didn't realise just how far hot oil could splash and managed to spatter my craghopper trousers with old oil. Conventional washing hasn't shifted the oily marks. Any suggestions or should I just bi... 5 Oct 2009 13:33

How Often Should I Waxoyl?
I just given my '84 Rangie a good dousing in waxoyl, but wondered how often I should repeat the job; every year, every other year? She's never used for off-roading by the way. ... 25 Oct 2009 05:34
MK3 Golf AEE (1.6) starting issues
My girlfriend's Golf is having a bit of starting trouble. Basically, the starter will spin the engine fairly well, up to about 400 revs or so, which if I recall correctly, is about right for a starter. However, the engine doesn't catch. Give it a welly full of throttle, and it'll fire and then bog down again at... 20 Sep 2009 17:26

Flat battery
Had an interesting one late yesterday afternoon - a neighbour knocked on the door and asked for some help. His '01 BMW 325T wouldn't start. Flat battery - just a relay or two clicking when you tried. He'd started it earlier - normally - and moved it a few yards to wash it. Got the meter out and it was certainly... 23 Dec 2008 16:48
