I am not surprised, as even car magazines say the ride quality matches a
Rolls. However, I have added a tuning box to my car that gives it good
acceleration thast I use to good effect. The stereotype image was started by
the likes of Clarkson, who do roadtests while smoking pipes :-)

Both. I like detailing the car because of the finish I can achieve.

No different to cutting a lawn daily, feeding it with chemicals to achieve a
deep green stripey effect. One can stand back and admire the work done - even
though an occasional cut will keep it short, albeit not as green.

No, it wasn't started by Clarkson. Rovers have been driven by elderly
gentlemen, slowly, everywhere for as long as Rover has exsisted!!Of all the
Rovers I went in in my school years, every single one was owned by
grandparents of friends.

Why not combine the two? In another group someone highlighted the
website of a HiFi snake oil salesman. He also sells his "Special Wax"
for which he charges (wait for it) <drum roll> 250 for 5ml of wax.

Yes, that's right 250 for 5ml, a teaspoonfull of wax.
