But the same goes. They are different coloured cars, photographed from
differemt angles under different lighting conditions. Of course they
look different - but it's impossible to tell what if any effect the
polish used has.

Odd, that. It's like the way people selling hi-fi always seem to be
able to hear differences which the rest of us can't. Even odder, the
differences in both cases seem to be directly proportional to the cost
of the product.

No. There are differences in appearance of photographs of different
cars painted in different colours and photographed from different
angles in different lighting conditions.
