If the paint is slick (feels good), rain will sheet off, less dirt will stick
and cleaning is easier.

Well, we know what he's on about - buying something because it has nifty
sounding ingredients, regardless what the finish actually looks like. The two
Autoglym products I mentioned work very well, but I have no idea what's in
them.

It's the same with HiFi cables. I have tried several and chose one that made
my system sound the best, yet some purists will say wire is wire - snake oil!
