My interpretation of the rule you posted doesn't prohibit a sign when
the vehicle is on private property and I doubt that the law is intended
to stop that.
We have had a similar rule here for many years but its purpose is to
stop people parking cars for sale in prominent positions( often
illegally parked) all over town making the place look like a car yard.

I doubt that that is the reason, there will always be private sellers of
cars.

(a) not have a face area in excess of 2.4m2; and

Kev

2.4m2!!!?!?!?

Thats a HUGE Sign, I dont think Ive seen a private sale with a sign that large. Oh well, at least
its still safe for 99.99% of the public to sell on the side of the road then.

Yep
but when I went in to their office today and showed them how big the
sign was I was told it was too big
It's 900x600 and fits inside the car between the dash and the mirror

But I was told that they don't really have a go at people if the car is
on private land, just parked on a roadway or carpark
I had it in a proper car park on a dead end street that parallels a main
road. When parked your car faces the main road. I only put it there on
Sunday for the day as there are a lot of visitors to the area coming to
the Caboolture Markets.

But anyway I've put the car back to where I originally had it on private
property on another main road

As for the Car Dealers, lots in recent local papers again from dealers
complaining that they are the only people you should trust when buying a
car and they supported the signage laws............... Strangely enough
it wasn't in the funny pages

Did you get a ticket for yours? Even though it was less than 2.5m2!

I used to buy the $2 cardboard sun shades that spread across the whole dash to write the FOR SALE
across.

Dunno the warning suggested that I MAY be fined and it would be posted
to the last known address the vehicle was registered to

I got a piece of expanded plastic sheeting from Bunnings for $4.00

I'm going to cut it in half and use two smaller sheets
