Basically, yes - they inject & ignite either extra fuel to burn the
collected particulates off or some other active fluid.

Heh, the Japs maybe, but the Germans? Behave, newe Beemers and Mercs seem
to have way more problems than the French-bred cars do. I've had 3 modern
ones, one brand new, one nearly new, and one 6 years old - none missed a
beat.
