What's the kit worth?
Forced induction can sure make a difference, the mate with the Clubman
drove a turbo Clubbie last weekend, 0-100 in 4.5 secs and standing
quarter in 11.4.
He wants a turbo or supercharger on his road car now, it did 0-100 in
6.5secs which is not fast enough:-)
My sons supercharger Sprinter has amazing grunt from low rpm for a 1.6lt.

It's $US 4500, and as you might have seen, and from the report I've
read from Goodman Racing, It just bolts straight in, looks factory,
and comes with a box that reflashes the ECU.

How about you install one and let us know how it drives. Then I'd
consider it for mine.

This is the first kit I have seen/heard of for the NC (mind you I
haven't searched the net/groups for any). For me the throttle
drivability and balance has to be well calibrated for me to be
interested. And then you'd probably need to upgrade your suspension
to handle the power.

Reliability is also a factor for me. My brother's NA is turbo charged
(done by MX5-Mania) and it's awesome for bursts and also on the road.
But after a few laps of QR, apparently the cooling system couldn't
handle it and blew a radiator top. He also suspect that he has a
failed gasket as well.

Fuel consumption is also for me relevant. One reason for me to have
gone for the MX-5 instead of the WRX/STi/EVO is the current cost of
fuel. I can fang the MX-5 around the street without care and still
get 9 L/100km average (that's what low weight and no forced induction
will allow you to do). I couldn't get any better than 12.5 L/100km
with my 1998 WRX previously no matter how gentle I drive it (it was an
auto). My brother's turbo NA averages about 13 (though it is damn
faster than my previous WRX).

Going to Lakeside this week for the first time in my MX-5 now that my
car has finished running in. Can't wait :-)))

Cheers.

That's not exactly cheap and whilst it may "bolt straight in" I doubt it
would be an easy job.
Whether or not its worth the effort depends on how much you think it
needs the extra power.
