when I started driving people often flashed with long "blasts" which
meant "get the **** out of my way", its progress that it's rare now.

I make a clear distinction between a quick double-flash to signal "I will
wait for you" and a long single flash to signal "I am here" (a visible
version of the horn).

But I'd prefer a totally separate set of lights (green?) on the front of the
car that I could flash in the first situation.
