OK so this is a "probably"

And this purports to be a fact.

What is it Kev because I've been told by a number of people in the
trade that there are many different suppliers of auto glass of much
varying quality.

Ive had a few screens replaced over the years with 4 in the last two years. Each time I ask to look
at the screen before it goes in as there are huge visual discrepancies in all manufacturing
processes. This is generally agreed by each installer.

The latest was a cheapie but the quality of the screen matches all of the "Manufacturers recommended
replacements"

You can definately tell a dodgy one by looking through the screen from outside on an angle. The
waves show big time from an angle.

Pilkington glass used to be the ducks guts of screens but they too now do shody work as well as the
rest of the world.

As far as I'm aware Pilkingtons either went out of business, or went out of
the local auto glass manufacturing business.

None of the locally built cars use Australian sourced glass. Ford has theirs
made in China, and while Toyota and Holden also use imported glass I'm not
sure where they get theirs from (although I assume it'd be from Asia
somewhere). Most after-market glass is sourced from Asia, and usually from
whoever is the cheapest. Obwiens buy their glass from the same suppliers as
the local cheapie.
