: As far as I'm aware Pilkingtons either went out of business, or went out of
: the local auto glass manufacturing business.
:
: None of the locally built cars use Australian sourced glass. Ford has theirs
: made in China, and while Toyota and Holden also use imported glass I'm not
: sure where they get theirs from (although I assume it'd be from Asia
: somewhere). Most after-market glass is sourced from Asia, and usually from
: whoever is the cheapest. Obwiens buy their glass from the same suppliers as
: the local cheapie.

Pilkingtons are made in NZ to Spec. They had thier premium range but mostly made to price screen.

AFAIK they use Xingi glass, a major supplier to the industry.

I don't know who makes it, but it's the same stuff that any local "non
Obwien" windscreen fitter uses.

Of course there are. But Obrians are no different to any other fitter,
they'll still be looking for the cheapest

Protector windscreens at Stapylton(when they were there) were the
importer and supplier to OBrians down Beenleigh way, They also supplied
and fitted screens themselves

Though when we had the Prado's rear window replaced the guy from OBrians
had a geniwhine Toyota glass to fit. probably because the car was a new
model only a few months old and it was quicker to source a Toyota glass
than an aftermarket
and the Toyota glass was a surprising $360
