Especially when that same food is planted, harvested, dried and transported using fossil fuel and is then subject to a relatively inefficient conversion process. Bioethanol made some sort of sense when it was intended to produce it using waste. Growing a food crop in order to turn it into fuel is insanity.

The _known_ reserves are currently guesstimated to be lasting about as long as they were half a life time ago, despite ever-rising use)
