I wanted to pick one up to blow my tyres up as a lot of the air pumps at garages near me are not working at the moment. Unfortunately my cars cig lighter don't work even when the car is switched on.

Make sure the wire going to the tip of the plug goes to the positive!

The gauges on the electric inflators are so inaccurate as to be worthless, and unless you have some physical shortcomings a foot pump is actually faster. Chris -- Remove prejudice to reply.
