Ummm...looking to see if you 'texted' correctly? Washington state just woke up. The bill making hand held CP use a primary infraction was signed yesterday. It, of course, will do no good. What is needed is a circuit in every phone that makes it inoperable except for 911 if moving over x mph. Harry K

American's need to learn that driving isn't something you do while doing something else. The first step to teaching that would be proper speed limits instead of driving so slowly as to be driven to bordom.

Better question is, just how fast was this idiot going to get his car that deep under the truck? Trucks are equipped with a bumper to prevent this. I've seen numerous times where the bumpers get locked and maybe a foot or so of the car lodged under the truck, but all the way up to the front window?

Not much speed is required for that. 45-50mph is probably more than enough. > Trucks are equipped with a bumper to prevent this. US underride guard requirements were very very minimal for a very long time, even the recent upgrades aren't much better. > I've seen numerous times where the bumpers get locked and maybe a foot or > so of the car lodged under the truck, but all the way up to the front > window? Video showing a Ford Granada crash at 33mph with similiar results. Even with the improved guard the granada is almost as badly mangled at 34mph. An old granada is a more substantial vehicle than that little import in the news story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cmw0HIKgHiM BTW lots gpstroll trucking school grads linked from that video... |
