The only person I know in that situation was denied hire for ten years
after the offence.

So DD stays on your licence even after the ban has expired? Don't speeding
points and so on get taken off after they've expired?

Speeding endorsements stay on the licence for four years after
conviction, DD for ten years.

Or forever unless the licence is replaced, of course.
