Moral to the story: Don't make major purchases like cars sight unseen and
agree to pay for the things in advance as you're just *begging* to be ripped
off.

Agreed. We flew to perth from sydney to see car. Guy was a bit odd,
we were at the bank ready to transfer funds, where he was humming and
haing the whole time.

Eventually he parts with it, we freight the car back home, it was a
resto job, did that, and sold it a few years down the track for a tidy
profit - to the guy who sold us the car in the first place.

Not only was he up for freight both ways, and the resto work, and our
markup (market value for the vehicle changed significantly over the time
we had it).

I knew he was a bit soft in the noggin, but this is just silly.

Especially race cars.
Mates Clubman race car looked good at first but it didn't take long
before many problems appeared, it would have been better to have bought
the car minus the engine and gearbox because it would have saved us the
trouble of removing and scrapping them.
The car is brilliant now but its taken a lot of time and money to get it
that way.
