One of the reasons Kia is seriously outselling Hyundai in the UK now is
that they have a *7* yr wty, where Hyundai still have 5.

We had a guy come along with us offroading once in his little Sportage,
a series 2 model, it even had low profile tyres but he followed us
almost everywhere. A very steep deep rutted track stopped him, but then
it also stopped the shitbox Pajero that came along as well

Yeah but Failing how???
All I keep hearing is tails of failures and so on but no one can tell me
WHAT the failures are
most I hear is the diff made a bit of a clunk noise when you selected
reverse, But so did every ford I have ever owned
there was nothing wrong with the diffs as they still worked fine for
many years, just had a slight clunk when you selected reverse

These are the same BTR diffs fitted to Holdens are they not???
just with a different backlash setting??

What known faults?

We're talking about differentials fitted to BA onwards Falcons, not 40 year
old Detroit Lockers which are noisy by design.

You haven't driven either a Holden or a Ford in a *long* time, huh? :)

The differentials fitted to current Holdens and Falcons are made by the same
company, but both are very different in operation and I expect the design
spec (based on what each company is paying per unit) has a lot to do with
that. The Holden unit is increasingly finding it's way into Hotrods and
other modified cars as a popular alternative to a Jag independent rear or
the old faithful 9 inch, but Ford units can't be given away for free.

So bad are the problems Ford are having with their differentials (amongst
other things) that you'd be hard pressed to find a BA Falcon that still has
the diff it left the factory with :)

What, your connected to the internet but you want us to do YOUR research for
you.
go to a Ford forum and see for yourself.
But just for you, he had one drop its guts on the way home from work, he had
another that blew the front oil seal halfway between Parkes and Orange and
the last one sounded like he was driving a mining truck at anything over
walking pace, then you throw in the total inability to get a decent prop
shaft balance in the thing and you have a lemon.
