Falcon and Taurus is like chalk and cheeze. There is not one area where the
Taurus shines over the Falcon.

Probably the best assessment yet of the failure of the 380. The 380 was in
fact quite a good car value for money, not perfect but still good value.

Exactly what I thought too. It was a shape taken from the archives and
looked like it came out of Toyotas design factory after a 2 minute board
meeting.

Maybe some although I wouldn't know why. I'd say it was more like sales to
the loyal Mitsu followers which slowly dwindled as Mitsu lost the plot in
Oz.

What's the loss?
The Falcon got bigger and bigger until it outgrew it's customer base.
The Mondeo has kept growing until it's in a place where customers want
their wagons.

Easy, shrink it and put a decent engine in it.

Corolla has out sold Commodore on more than one month over the last
couple of years so its not true to say no one has made inroads.
Overall Toyota sales of all models are almost double those of any other
manufacturer so even Commodore is not doing all that well compared to
how well it sold in the past.
The one thing locally made cars had going for them in the past was that
they were good value for money but IMHO that's no longer true, I also
think that many people, even those with families have realised that they
really don't need a large sedan when much smaller cars serve their needs
just as well and are a lot cheaper to buy and run.
