Mitsubishi did a deal with the oil companies too back then as well. :p Also they were not all that economical as well and transmission made out of plastic too --- Regards Dan.

No one has bothered to do that because there is no point, that type of car is loosing market share at a big rate, there is a huge variety of cars in the market that better suit people who previously bought Falcodores. > > Magna did in the 80's with ads stating along the lines of that you > really dont need a six and this was a large car. To date, the only car that was pitched at the Holden and Falcon that was truly on *equal* footing has been the Valiant., and that suffered the exact same fate as the Magna and for the same reason. -- Regards, Noddy.

Oh, sorry, I didn't realise you were being serious :) It's pretty basic really. If they *want* to improve the Falcon then they (being Ford) should go back to making cars of the quality that could be had with the EF or EL range, as they were the last "good" Falcons ever made. Decent looking car, solid build quality and fairly reliable if you maintained the cooling system according to the book (which many didn't). The problem for Ford is that they'd have to *want* to do so, and given that doing so would mean spending a fair bit more money per car than they're currently doing my guess would be that they don't wanna. Besides, it's too late anyway. This version of the Falcon will definitely be the last locally designed and built one. -- Regards, Noddy. |
