From: Ron on 3 Feb 2010 19:39 Scotty, I spoke to Rob, he had a 307 in a Hi Lux. His advice is dont bother, it will cost you lots of money. Thinks like a stonger gearbox, adapther plate, big radiator 9not big enough as there is no room), constant over heating problems, etc, etc Hi advice is to fit another second hand motor. Ron (BTW) I'll be away for two weeks and will not be reading this NG.

Okay Ron, cheers for that. I think that he wouldve had a 2.0 or 2.4 Motor which is correct where the gearbox is too weak. Fortunately I have the V6 so that gearbox is claimed to be plenty strong enough. Same goes for the V6 radiator although I will be getting a custom one as large as possible if required. I do appreciate your askign though. Enjoy ya holiday

Do they fit as well or just supply? I think Ill get someone to do the fitting as I just cant be bothered now. Im going to remove the old motor and clean up the engine bay ready for fitment but thats my lot I think, Expect for probably sourceing bits and pieces etc. As far as the Chev goes I can go a 307 but not a 350. (Not sure how they tell the difference because are they not the same block but different cranks?)

(Not sure how they tell the difference because > are they not the same block but different cranks?) same with differing cranks , with the right combo you can get 383 and 400 inches as well I have a copy of the 2005 Eagle book hwere and the 350 cube starts at 290 horse , it would be a good mover apart from the fuel > > |
