Absolutely, and I would be happy for pay an extra penny (say)
of income tax if that would stop "our troops" getting killed.

I did not approve of the invasion in the first place, but now
the soldiers are there they deserve our support and protection.

Of course they do. They don't choose which wars to fight. I don't agree
with the current war, but how would their detractors feel if we were being
attacked on our home territory and our troops said, nah, I don't fancy
fighting that one:(

If they don't want to risk getting killed they shouldn't join the army

Well they deserve to be supported to the fullest in order to do what
they have been hired to do but I don't think anyone is in a position
to offer them protection.
