:I purchased a Garmin satnav last year. At that time,
: the price of a map update was $70, cheaper than their
: main competitors.
: Now I went to update, and price has jumped to
: $108.90!
: (and I think the A-US exhange rate improved since then too)

If you register on the net the first updates free anyway, what you worried about?

I reckon if you got hold of the file called "PNADesktop.exe" and put
that on the SD card, created an .ini file, use notepad or similar to
make a txt file with "\SDMMC\PNADesktop.exe"(without quotes) in it and
rename the file "shell.ini"
put that on the SD card as well
pop it into the unit and press the "reset" button
you might just be able to access the WinCe desktop

if you can do that then you can add different GPS programs, GarminXT,
TomTom, Igo8, Destinator, OziExplorerCE etc.
also a heap of other WinCE programs
