From: Rad on 7 Aug 2010 16:05 I entered a 50 zone on the motorway, I was cruising along at about 60-65mph waiting for a SPECS camera before slowing down. Then I noticed markings on the road for Gatso cameras, I didn't slow down in time and went through at about 65mph. I looked in my side mirror and saw that there were indeed unpainted Gatsos in the gantries. Are these cameras likely to be enforcing the 50mph temporary speed limit or would they be set to enforce the normal 70mph limit? There were SPECS cameras further up the road.

I assumed though that these signs were warning about average speed checks so if the Gatsos are enforcing the temporary limit then I got caught off guard.

At the time of passing through last week, not all were wired up on the northbound carriageway and the leads could be seen hanging even though there were markers already on the carriageway beneath. The power feeds in the purple tubing was also disconnected on the ones we looked at. I took some photos on the way down just for interest but while away, the wife chose for some reason to delete them from the camera so I cannot post a picture. :-( Hopefully you passed though while they are still disconnected. |
