Hey

What legal options do I have. I need to get a car, which is in perfect
health , from my brothers house to the RWC inspection center and thence on
to mains roads to register it (brothers rego expired last month, I am
registering it in my name) . The mains road site I am finding a little hard
to navigate at sub-dialup speeds, so if anyone could offer advice I'd
appreciate it. Do I need a receipt from my brother to show transfer of
ownership ?

Can I legally drive to the RWC inspection center if I have a 3rd party cover
note from my CTP insurer ? I am pretty sure that I am allowed to drive
directly from the RWC center to mains roads (even without a 3rd party cover
note) - is this correct ?

Any othere red tape I need to be aware of ? When I get it to mains roads the
check the compliance pplate vin etc I assume and that's about it ?

Thanks.

Best option is to reregister it in your Bros name, and then drive it
over. Otherwise you will have to get a temp certificate if its like in
Melbourne, pay through the nose. and then transfer it after the RWC has
been approved.

You will need any sort of receipt for the car, or transfer papers signed
by him, which you could do after its registered again.

QLD: Buy your CTP certificate - you can then drive to get a RWC -AND- to the registry (24/48
hrs time limit???).

Go to a CTP Insurer, get you certificate for a nominated day, then you
can legally drive that car to a RWC, followed by Qld RTA.

Did this a few weeks ago with my Son's "Pet project" (after I'd fixed the
rust, etc.
