because there is more to being the prime minister or opposition leader than
just sitting in the back of a com car and just twiddling your thumbs.
same reason that pollies don't take public transport. They can get a lot of
work done while they are being driven to their next appointment.

because you have to modify the bonnet of the smaller car to fit the 8 port
head and modified Webber inlet manifold.

I really need to put a new sig down here :-)

A small car does just fine in the city. You don't need a lumbering "SUV" or
whatever cars such as the Territory are classed as, driving from Altona to
Spring St.

Given that we're paying for the largesse of politicians I'd prefer it if they
were economical with our money. It's offensive enough that they get to "lease"
these vehicles for a pittance, that their family (inc. spouse and offspring) can
drive them as private vehicles. All the while they're jacking up taxes and other
charges and not doing squat to keep affordable the cost of living with respect
to essential services.

But that's me.

Absolutely agree... but I bet you can't maintain the same average
speed for the same fuel consumption without the increased risk of a
speeding fine when the road isn't flat (or straight)!

It's the only real use for the rotten things IMHO. ;-)

Weeeeellll, the trouble is that they throttle up hard on the uphills and do not allow for crests. If
you have 100ks at the crest then usually you will have excessive speed on the downhill section
