I think he understands perfectly and just doesn't wish to be considered a European, even though he is definitely a good solid 100% dyed-in-the-wool European. He stands on European soil, eats European food, breathes European air and craps down a European bog. He's probably a creationist as well, in which case this will be a *very* long thread. And at the end of it he'll still say he isn't a European. And he'll still be wrong.
