They did have a rough time during D-Day,..but unless you knew otherwise, you'd think they were the only allied country there. I think once the commentator mentioned the poms were also there. How unfair. > > Jordan I trhink it was quoted just after WW2 some Japanese person said " You may have won the battle, but we will win the war" And that was the war to gradually take over everything Menzies had a plan during WW2, of creating a line in the sand and giving the land north of Brisbane to the Japs called the Brisbane Line. The Brisbane Line was a controversial defence proposal allegedly formulated by the Menzies government during WW2 to concede the northern portion of the Australian continent in the event of an invasion by the Japanese. The actual location of the "line" demarcating this territory is unclear. When the proposal was originally revealed to the public in 1942, it was claimed that the "northern part of the country" was to be surrendered. General Douglas MacArthur subsequently claimed that the line was to run from Brisbane to Perth A few months after his initial statement of the 'Brisbane Line' MacArthur attempted to distance himself from his earlier remarks as it was coming to light that his time lines and assertions were in fact incorrect. It is working !!

Every country writes its history to show themselves in the best possible way but none more so than the US, many people in the US seem to think that the US is the only country on the planet. I once commented to an American mate about how poor the news is on commercial TV, he said that compared to the US our news service is brilliant, according to him over there the news is usually very local and many national issues are ignored and international issues get almost no mention at all so its little wonder that very many Americans have little knowledge of the world outside their immediate area.
