OK, so it was only the bed of the dump truck, who could be expected to
see that?

Manchester, Ontario County (WSYR-TV) – At least 17 people were hurt in
an early morning accident on the NYS Thruway, when the back of a dump
truck lifted and struck an overpass.

The crash happened just before 5am in the eastbound lanes of the
highway, between the Manchester (Exit 43) and Geneva (Exit 42) exits.

State Police say the driver of the dump truck was heading eastbound,
when the box of the truck lifted and struck an overpass. The box
detached from the dump truck and came to rest in the eastbound driving
lane.

>>>>Several minutes later<<<<<, a passenger van being driven eastbound by Max Itzkowitz, 47, of Brooklyn, tried to avoid the box, but was unable to do so and side-swiped the box. There were two adults and eight children in his van.

Two of the children were airlifted to Lakeside Memorial Hospital in
Rochester. The other occupants were transported by ambulance to
several Rochester area hospitals.

A second vehicle that was eastbound, struck the box of the dump truck.
The SUV was being driven by 31-year-old Yosef Compton of Springfield,
NJ. There were three adults and four children in that vehicle.

Just to ensure some mayhem, the truck bed was of course painted black
and of course it happened at night.
