Everything that driver did was suggesting they didn't know what lane
they required - a late lane change was on the cards and you should have
reacted to it sooner.

So in your opinion crossing a pair of solid double white lines is a
legitimate thing to do?

That is irrelevant to which regulation you think makes it illegal to
cross 'a one yard wide solid line', but it is completely legitimate to
cross a pair of solid double white lines when moving from the right to the
left.

You omitted the fact that I made mention of him switching lanes several
times prior, so I had obviously made no attempt to prevent him moving
into the lane I was in. If you follow the lanes back, there is only one
lane for M1 north to the west in the photo.

His final move, was to illegally and very abruptly cross, without
seeming to look, but certainly not signal- from the far side of what
you describe as a 'tiger tail' into the lane I was occupying. He had
appeared to settle on the lane to take him south on the M1 via the
round about, then as the speed of vehicles started to pick up in the
north bound lane (at the end of a 50 restriction) he without a thought
or care for his or anyone else's safety had simply yanked the wheel
hard over to cross to the north bound lane and directly into the side
of my vehicle.

Final comment - do grow up!

Oh, while we have the thread reopened....

Some one suggested my comment with regard to the speed (130-ish) that
the other vehicle took off after almost side swiping me, was ridiculous
- suggesting that the speed was impossible...

Just around that corner and for the next 1.5 miles - you get a very
clear view for around 1.5 to 2 miles along the M1 north. I was doing 70
to 80 and within 1 mile that car had gained 1 mile on me. It was of
course only an estimated 130, but it was a fair estimate - car was
certainly capable of doing that speed.
