Apparently not. The lady who testified to Congress today about her runaway
Lexus stated that she did put the car in neutral and it didn't stop, even
with both feet on the brake pedal.

Shift-by-wire too? I love my Studebaker more every day.

Seems very strange to me. She testified that she even put it in
reverse. How likely is it that the throttle mechanism, the brakes,
and the shifter all fail at once? She did manage to make a cell call
to her husband though. The brakes should overpoweer the motor on most
any car. It all reminds me of the bogus Audi "sudden acceleration"
hysteria of 20+ years ago. I'm betting on the two feet being firmly
planted on the accelerator. The congressional hearings are a
disgraceful example of blowhards (of both parties) trying to make
political points on a situation that is, at best, poorly understood at
this time.

A lot of the Toyota dealers that were owned by 'families' at one time are
now owned by large companies that own numerous dealerships, and are
basically run by the bean counters. It's too bad; my local dealer is owned
by a 'family' of bean counters, but they still remember the old customers.
Thank God for that. The other two in the area...UGH.

$375 for 'processing fees' for paperwork that has to be done BY LAW anyway?!?!?!
