Yes, I could disable my speed limiter by pulling a fuse. But this would also
disable my tacho, my indicators, my brake lights etc etc etc...which would
be instantly detectable in a roadside check.

Also, you cannot arrive in Madrid showing a 200 mile drive from London on
your record. Obvious, innit?

No-one I know, including every Main Dealership fitter I know, knows how to
fiddle a speed limiter.

I am eagerly awaiting Depresion's theory of the "screwdriver and Blu-Tack"
theory because I am amazed that no-one discovered this before a chatty rogue
trucker called Depresion over for a heart-to-heart...

Like I said, completely impossible then.

You couldn't possibly maintain an average speed of 47 mph driving to Spain
and back in a vehicle, the top speed of which is 56 mph.

Not in my experience of driving to Spain anyway.

While my speedo read 75mph. I was, as you requested estimating what
their true speed was based on what I could observe. Are you trying to
claim that they passed me at 56mph?

But not noticeable on-road, since I can't recall the last time I saw an
LGV driver use a signal.

I don't know what speed they were doing, I wasn't there.

If my car speedo was registering 75 mph I would be extremely surprised if
even one, let alone three HGVs could overtake me on a level road.

Have you thought about getting your speedometer calibrated?
