Zealotry & repression do that. Many religions don't give two craps

Suppose they confirm beyond reasonable doubt that religiousity is nothing
more than a neuropsychological response to a physical process in the
brain?

Consciousness itself is nothing more than a manifestation of a
physical process in the brain; what of it?
