Within 10,000 years we will be deep into the next Ice Age...so don't worry,
be happy, Global warming is but temporary.

Here's a chill pill for you. Imagine if, three months from now, the
gusher has only increased. That's not an outsider estimate; the
geology of the area makes it entirely possible.

Now get out your children's map of the oceans and their currents. The
Gulf Stream starts in the Gulf, swings around Florida, goes up to
Maine, veers out into the Atlantic, and...

....sublimates directly to the abyssal floor, via the "thermohaline
cycle". Something to do with different temperatures and salinities.

So if the oil gets that far, it's lighter than water, so it might stop
that cycle. That would trigger an ice age.

Cool enough for ya?

Either way, Gaia took care of this trifling little "anthropogenic
climate change" for us!

If the oil gets to the Straits of Florida, it will be spread by the
Gulf Stream up the Atlantic coast to Greenland, Iceland, to the UK.
First we kill the world economy with derivatives worth 10 times the
world's GDP, now we kill the ecology of the countries on the Atlantic
ocean.

So, apparently, is humanity.
