The fishing vessel that rescued her wasn't Australian, I don't know who paid for the aircraft that originally located her, the media said the plane was "chartered" but nothing I read or heard said who paid so why is everyone assuming the Australian Govt did? Thy are not assuming. It *was* chartered by the Aus Govt., at a reported cost of $200,000.00

There was an announcement on today's radio news that the Federal Government will be "contributing" to the cost of rescuing the girl.
