If you got passed on the right while you were in the left lane, you were
in the wrong. Period, end of story. I am sure that someone can come up
with a situation in which that is not the case, but it is so rare that
it can be safely ignored. Please learn to drive more considerately for
your fellow road users in the future.

define "cut us off".

did he force you to brake,slow,or to swerve in avoidance?
(note I said "force"..)

just how close did he merge in front of you?

A couple of things:

1. Did you recently allow a LLB to pace you for several minutes not too
long before this occurred?

2. Were you driving significantly slower than the rest of traffic by
just going only 5 mph over? If the speed limit is 55 mph and traffic is
going between 68 and 78 mph, then going 60 mph is too slow and disrupts
traffic unnecessarily.

I would have leaned hard on my horn when he began edging over.
(did he signal? probably not..)
The "looked over his shoulder" was an indication he was going to move.

Maybe he was "yanking your chain",not that I condone such actions.
BTW,was there another car approaching HIM(in his lane),and maybe that's why
he moved over too soon,to get out of the other guy's way?
It's still bad judgement on his part.

I once "played hopscotch" with such an idiot,until he cut me off,and then I
ran him literally off the road,then he left me alone after that.

"hopscotch";
where you pass someone,they speed up,pass you,and slow down again,then when
you pass,they do the same thing all over again,and it repeats.

Oh,that OK's a cutoff?

Bullshit;
if he was in the rightmost lane,5 over is fine.
He's not under any obligation to "keep up with the pack",not in the
rightmost lane.
It's their obligation to pass if they want to go faster.

what if he was towing a trailer??? are you saying he should speed up in
order to not "disrupt traffic"?

The OP -did- say traffic was "light".
