Oh No thats sounds expensive. I was just reading and it says it you have
lambda problems it can cause the cat to crack! if you don't fix it. Also it
can be another problem and not the cat like a fowled spark plug or a air
leak in the exhaust manifold which I guess needs checking before forking out
for a sensor! So I guess a few things need investigating first.

You can, and i have had some success doing so, but only usually after carbon
fouling from an unrelated problem (causing rich mixture) but i would suggest
in your case to replace the sensor.

Don't be tempted to use a cheap generic one, they dont last very long, and
often give running and emissions related problems.

�127 + vat!!!! where from?
I had to change two on my golf v6 4motion and they cost me about �83 + vat
each - from VW. Fitting, I took it to a VW specialist who charged an hours
labour (�35). Is the �127 + vat price the price the garage has told you.
Suggest you check with VW.
