From: Matthew Jenkins on 13 Apr 2006 15:38 It seems some people are paying a lot less for LPG than me (e.g. David Cawkwell stated in a post earlier today he pays 30 ppl.). I have recently got my car converted and there are only two sources I am aware of near us and both are ~46-47 ppl at the moment. I have heard very cheap LPG can be found at Country Wide Farmers (http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/energy/autogas_sites.htm) but none of their outlets are close enough to us. Would people who know of cheap sources of LPG please share with the rest of us where these cheap sources are. I would be particularly interested in South Oxfordshire, but no doubt there are others who are interested in other areas. - Thanks Matthew

I guess that my having picked up about 200L for free over the past couple of weeks doesn't count. :-) The ultimate in recycling. Getting LPG tanks from the wreckers, emptying the LPG out (with a pump), depressurising and removing all valving so that the scrap metal merchants will accept the tank shells. I win because I get the LPG and all of the valving. The wrecker wins because he gets rid of the "hazardous waste" that is damaged (dented, scratched, test plates missing, etc) tanks. Sorry, can't help with where to buy cheap LPG. From: Paul Collins on 14 Apr 2006 03:25 I have a Contrywide farmers account as there are a few in the Glos/Worcs area. In the 2 years that I've had the account, there have been so many price rises that sometimes it's not worth the drive to the nearest site. My latest bill shows 35p per litre, but then you have to add VAT so it comes out at 41p per litre. Still better than the big boys (my local wants 46.9) but it can be bought cheaper. Stonehouse Autogas and a few places in Bristol spring to mind. The advantage is that wherever I go away from home, there is a fuel tank a small diversion away that doesn't rely on me having cash. The only sites I know of in Oxfordshire are Chipping Norton, Witney (with it's very tight reversing space) and, near to OX at the new Cirencester site by South Cerney. Morrisons round here is 39.9, which is cheaper than BP (49.9). The local gas fitters are usually somewhere inbetween. |
