Ok
I had this engine at mazda they checked right over it and told
me
for some reason it was too far advanced.
They charged me $90 for a full diag and changed the timing to its
correct tooth after the revious mechanic set it off a tooth. and gave
me 4 sark plugs.
the other mechanic charged me $300 or 4 1/2 hours to set it a tooth
out to get it to run, would have been cheaper to hire a trailer and
trailer the the thing to mazda to start with.

Any way this car used to run good before the head got replaced, what is
its problem,
wrong camshaft?

TIA

It could be any of a number of things. One that comes to mind is valve
timing. If it uses a toothed belt to drive the cam sprocket(s) it maybe a
tooth or 2 out,..if it is twincam with one cam driving the other (Toyota
Camry style) One cam maybe correct, while the other is out a gear-tooth, or
some combination of both.
How are the valves sealing in their seats? Is compression OK and even? If it
uses a knock-sensor, is it plugged in? What is the mixture like? This along
with other vital parameters, are checked with an engine analyser.

Compression test?

What are the symptoms exactly?

The correct order would be to make sure the valve timing is correct, then
make sure the distributor timing is correct. Once all the timing is verified
as 100% correct, then you can start looking at the symptoms.
How many K's on this engine and what are the compressions like? Maybe it's
just fucked, or maybe it's an engine management fault.
