We had to take the thing apart and put it in right. That only took about 20 minutes. For assembly, all the seals are held in place with gobs of Vaseline petroleum jelly which has a Mazda part number. The first time you start the engine it burns off the stuff with lots of smoke. It's a ridiculously easy engine to work on. To bad it's such a gas hog.

The spark plug made sure you got ignition and the fire would shoot several feet out of the exhaust tip. I cant imagine anyone would want to do such a thing now, with catalytics in the way, everything very expensive to replace.
